Theoretical Orientation
I take an integrated, future-oriented approach to mental health. Because our sense of emotional and behavioral possibilities can be limited by what we feel in our bodies, I attend to both body and mind during a therapy session. In addition to cognition-based techniques, I have sought extensive training in ways to help promote physical self-regulation. My training is in systems theory and trauma theory with practical training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma processing using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Additionally I bring breathing and mindfulness techniques from yoga and Martial Arts to my sessions. With these tools, I work collaboratively with my clients to help them make the changes they want.
